About

Thor Clausen has been partnering with and advising education groups, PE funds, investment
companies, consulting companies, universities and schools for the past 20 years. This advice
has mainly been geared towards operational excellence, growth projects and business
development, both on an organic level but as well in M&A. Thor has been involved in
numerous due diligence processes and has applied not only professionalism and quality
consulting work, but he is also well known for his no-nonsense, direct, thorough and value-
driven approach.

Thor started out in education as the managing director of continous & executive education for Reykjavik University in Iceland back in 2002 and founded EduXpert in 2008 with the mission to support and guide his clients towards a journey of growth with focus on quality work and added value. He has worked with numerous high level internationally acclaimed clients to deliver valuable outcomes based on his knowledge and experience in the education sector.

Thor´s network and knowledge spans the whole of Europe and furthermore into other regions of the world with a focus on legal infrastructure of education in various countries as well as the commercial and competitive situation of the education market in different countries. Some of the projects he has consulted on include strategic and financial planning, building business plans, doing market analysis and investigating major competitive forces, new market development with go-to market strategies, internationalization and the setup of online learning as a new revenue stream. Thor has also spent several years in the field of M&A with a special focus on buy and sell mandates, market screening and initial target identification and has specifically focused on facilitating the dialogue between seller and buyer, as well as performing various aspects of due diligence work to make deals happen. Thor holds a MSc degree in finance and strategy from the University of Iceland.
