Thor has collaborated with Galileo Global Education for the past eight years. Main focus on scouting for new targets for acquisition in several Western and Eastern European education markets. Initiating contact and facilitating discussions with owners of higher education institutions as well as supporting both parties onwards to structure and negotiate a deal.

CEO of European Operations

Thor instigated, developed and executed a project with Boston-based consulting company Eduventures. The project scope was focused on offering academic and operational advisory services to the European higher education market. Main country focus on England, Scotland, The Netherlands, France, Italy and Spain as well as Slovenia and The Baltics.

Thor collaborated with London-based HQ of E&Y/Parthenon´s education practice leadership team regarding projects in higher education as well as K-12 education. Was sub-contracted several times to be an external advisor to clients of E&Y/Parthenon.

Thor was retained to support the Cinven team in doing pre-DD on a potential acquisition of a top tier international K-12 group. Focus on giving feedback on IM of the target, challenging the growth strategy and other important KPI´s in the operational plans.

Thor was retained to consult on the potential acquisition of a top-tier higher education group in Spain and Portugal. Main role was to collaborate with three different work streams that were set up: 1) supporting Bridgepoint´s project team on the overall project 2) supporting McKinsey Consulting Group who were in charge of the commercial part and 3) supporting Optima Finance who were in charge of building a five year business plan.

Thor was retained as an advisor by Permira as they planned to acquire former Laureate Education assets in Italy, Germany and Cyprus.

Firstly, they planned to acquire a minority share in an international higher education group based out of London, and secondly they wanted to understand better the blueprint and mechanisms for rolling out and growing a higher education group in the global marketplace.

Thor, with his team, built from scratch the Continuous Education department of Reykjavik University in Iceland. He spearheaded the growth and the success of the department, tripling revenue with a 35% EBITDA margin in during a three year period.

Thor was retained by Noroff and spearheaded the development and execution of the idea to bring Noroff´s online degrees to the Icelandic market as well as setting up an IESE Business School campus in Norway in a partnership between Noroff and IESE.

Thor was retained to project manage the process of developing a new five year strategy for The University of Akureyri. He facilitated numerous workshops with the leadership team of the university, with the university somewhat being in an identity crisis at the time.

Thor was retained to support Higher Ed Partners, a US based consulting company, that was planning to offer services to develop online learning in European public and non-profit higher education institutions. Using his wide European network of universities and contacts Thor introduced and facilitated discussion between parties in several countries.

Thor was hired to turnaround and re-structure the operations that where rapidly declining with previous lack of business acumen as well as lack of knowledge of the importance of a valid and respectable accreditation.

Project Manager of an Entrepreneurship Project in Uganda

Thor was retained by the Icelandic government, working directly with The Icelandic International Development Agency, to scope, develop and execute on the project of training entrepreneurs in Uganda, Africa. The aim was to develop tools and methodologies so that the owners of SME´s would run their businesses in a more efficient and productive way. The project went on to become a huge success with over ten thousand Ugandans graduating from the educational program that was set up to support them, with 50% of graduated being women.

Thor set up in 2024 an agency business in the Icelandic market supporting students in going to study abroad at good quality international universities. Partnering with them in various fields of study like Medicine, Dentistry, Art & Design, Tech and Business. The business has established itself in the market and is growing at a very good speed.
